How to care for your knife
Please don’t ever put me in a dishwasher. It is bad for my health; it makes me dull and can harm my handle too. “Dishwasher liquids have particles that really hurt when they hit my blade.”
Also don’t leave me in a sink full of water. I’m not worried about drowning, just that it might harm my handle and if I have a lot of carbon, I will rust.
If I have high carbon, I will stay sharp longer, but don’t put me away wet or in a leather pouch as I will rust. It’s not because I’m a bad knife, it’s just that I’m made of stronger steel. You can put some veg oil on me to help me not rust.
Just use soap and water and dry me right away
Be careful where you store me too.
· In a drawer make sure I am not rubbing against other items like metal, utensils etc. They will dull my blade, and you won’t like me anymore.
· If I am in a knife block, be sure I am nice and clean when you put me away, otherwise I might take items that can cause bacteria and poor health.
Please don’t use me on
· glass cutting boards,
· metal boards or surfaces,
· Granite, quartz or Corian countertops,
· even plastic cutting boards
Its best if you just use a wooden cutting board and I will stay nice and sharp for you.
Also, when you have chopped your veggies or other items, do not drag my sharp edge along the board to move the items to a pan or bowl. Flip the knife over and use the top edge to drag the veggies etc. to the bowl/pot.
Thanks for letting us help you with your knives, sharpening, finding the right blade or adding to your collection.
